Look at all the self-help merchandise out there – the magazines, blogs, books, and podcasts…one google search will give you millions of ways you can change your life! It’s an industry worth over 13 billion pounds and growing.
So, if it is so simple, why are so many of us not able to make, and sustain change?
Firstly you need to understand why you aren’t doing anything effective and sustainable about changing. If you are serious about changing your current circumstances – you need help way beyond these generic ‘sources of wisdom’. It needs to be personal and specific to you. Without that, unless you have massive self-awareness, personal power, focus, and determination – the change you seek will forever be out of reach.
This fear, self-doubt, procrastination, distraction techniques, and sometimes pure laziness – are the pitfalls that prevent any one of us from making and sustaining change. Plus, and this is one of the biggest ones, our inability to be completely and brutally honest with ourselves. This is crucial if you want to change any aspect of your life.
Remember – you are in control of your own thoughts, feelings, emotions and behaviours. Sometimes it can be as easy as just switching a switch on – the switch for pro-activity.
